PUBG Erangel 2.0 rework details: new POIs, visual upgrades, and loot changes.

Erangel is the map that started it all for PUBG, and KRAFTON is giving it the most significant rework since the game's launch. Dubbed Erangel 2.0 by the community, the update introduces new points of interest, a comprehensive visual overhaul, and rebalanced loot distribution designed to reduce early-game RNG.

The most notable new POI is Coastal Refinery, a large industrial complex on the southern shore that replaces the relatively barren area between Primorsk and the Sosnovka Military Base bridge. It features multi-level warehouses, fuel tanks that can be detonated for area denial, and guaranteed high-tier loot spawns. A second new POI, Hilltop Observatory, sits on the elevated terrain north of Yasnaya Polyana and provides long sightlines across the map — ideal for snipers but exposed to flanking from multiple angles.

Visually, Erangel 2.0 benefits from updated lighting, higher-resolution ground textures, and denser foliage in wooded areas. Buildings in Pochinki, School, and Rozhok have received interior redesigns with more furniture, cover objects, and windows that allow for new defensive positions. The water rendering has also been improved, making it easier to spot players swimming across rivers.

Loot distribution is the change competitive players care about most. KRAFTON has increased the spawn rate of level-two armor and helmets across all major towns, ensuring that players who survive the first two minutes have a fighting chance in mid-game engagements. Weapon spawns are more evenly spread — you are far less likely to land in a building and find nothing but pistols and shotgun ammo.

Erangel 2.0 is currently live on PUBG's test server and is expected to hit the live client in the next major patch. For PUBG veterans, this rework is a love letter to the map that defined the battle royale genre.
